Teen Girls Study as Exorcists, Travel World Casting Out Demons
At a time when teenage morality has come under particular scrutiny, one group of teenage girls has landed on the very opposite extreme. The girls have reported that they have no time for television or boyfriends because they are too busy praying and casting out demons. The unique thing about this girl group is that they have all attended training to become exorcists.
The group of girls has responded to what Evangelist Reverend Bob Larson has called a rising demand for trained exorcists. "The Church just can't keep up with demand. But I have 100 teams of trained exorcists working all over the world, and outbreaks of demonic possession are getting out of control," Larson told the Daily Mail.
Larson runs a school for exorcists at Spiritual Freedom Churches International where he trained his 16-year-old daughter Brynne who graduated from the program. Savannah Scherkenback, 19, and her sister Tess, 16 have also already graduated, where friends of the two sisters, Melanie Massih, 16, and her sister Christina, 15, are still studying to become official exorcists.
Although the girls admit that people are sometimes surprised to find the exorcist that has been sent to save their soul is only a 16-year-old girl, Larson has stated the teenagers are particularly good at what they do. "We have found that our female, teenage exorcists are particularly effective at curing the possessed," Rev. Larson told Daily Mail.
Dedication may have something to do with the young girls' success. "I don't watch any television at all. I'm much too busy praying and fighting the devil," Savannah commented. "I think Harry Potter and Twilight are instigators of evil," she added. "They nullify morality and just serve to hook people in with evil.
Brynne has admitted that sometimes performing exorcisms are dangerous. "I have performed exorcisms on 300lbs, 6'5" men -- and they can get violent," she said. She is believed to have a special, supernatural ability. Brynne has traveled with her pastor father since she was a girl and was still very young when she performed her first exorcism.
"I performed my first exorcism aged 13, in Africa, on a man possessed by terrible demons," she told Mail Online. Despite the fact that she has never had a boyfriend, she said that her life is very exciting.
"We have travelled all over the world performing exorcisms. I have been to Africa, Australia, New Zealand, China, Korea, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia and even the Bahamas, saving souls along the way," she said. "I have never had a boyfriend, but I consider myself lucky -- I don't have many of the demons that can be associated with obsession, or desire."
