'The Young and the Restless' Casting News, Spoilers: Michael Muhney to Return Since Billy Miller Joined 'General Hospital'?
"The Young and the Restless" fans are anxiously anticipating the return of beloved character Adam Newman, but the wait continues this week.
As previously reported, the role was once filled by Michael Muhney, who was fired from "Y&R" in January amidst sexual harassment allegations. While charges were never filed, Muhney has not returned to the soap opera, and "Y&R" showrunners have yet to replace the actor in the role of Adam.
In recent weeks, reports suggested that Muhney was considering returning to "Y&R," but the actor was also named in rumors indicating he was headed to "General Hospital" for the role of Jason Morgan. However, this week, it was confirmed that Billy Miller has been cast in the role of Jason "GH," according to Celebrity Dirty Laundry. The news leaves Muhney open to resume his role as Adam on "Y&R."
Last month, rumors of Muhney rejoining "Y&R" swept the internet when the actor was reportedly spotted at the CBS studios. Furthermore, it is believed that "Y&R" producer Jill Farren Phelps had invited Muhney back to the role of Adam, but that the actor had turned it down. Unfortunately, Muhney has remained mum on the rumors, and even deactivated his Twitter account recently.
Meanwhile, "Y&R" fans remain divided over Muhney's firing, with many viewers even boycotting the soap opera. Nevertheless, the role of Adam is expected to be filled soon since the television series has reintroduced Adam to the plot, with the character growing increasingly important to the story every day.
At the time of his firing in January, Muhney took to Twitter with a cryptic message of defense. Writing, "Benjamin Franklin said it best, 'Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.'"
"and that quote doesn't only apply to what is being said about ME," Muhney added. "It applies to others. Please be kind everyone. #respect"
After a six-month Twitter hiatus, Muhney took to Twitter again on April 28.
"Lotta good people in this world," he wrote. "I'm thankful each and every day for the overwhelming love."
However, today, the actor's Twitter account is deactivated.
