Utah Teen Leaves Homework and Drugs as Evidence at Break In (VIDEO)

Police didn't have to search long for a home burglar that robbed a 75-year-old man after the suspect left behind homework assignments.

Larry Jeffery was caught off guard early Saturday morning when he discovered that the person he believed to be his wife was actually a robber that had broken into his office and was attempting to steal his camera. When the 75-year-old man entered his office and discovered the burglar, the suspect turned the lights off and attempted to shut the door.

Determined, however, Jeffery turned the switch back on. The suspect again turned the light off and proceeded to punch Jeffrey twice in the face, knocking him to the floor. Jeffrey called out to his wife, who dialed 911 as the suspect made a run for it.

"Somebody came into our house, I don't know how he got in, I don't know what happened here, but he was taking pictures in our office," Jeffrey's wife told 911 operators.

When police arrived on scene, they didn't have to look far. Officials discovered that during his getaway the robber had left behind some crucial evidence- a backpack containing homework assignments.

Police discovered a thumb drive in the back pack left behind which contained homework assignments that linked 18-year-old Dallas Naljahih to the scene of the crime. When police traced Naljahih down they discovered the teen lying on his couch, with Jeffrey's camera nearby.

"Naljahih was arrested and booked on charges of burglary, theft, assault, illegal consumption and possession of drug paraphernalia," a local ABC station reported.

Naljahih is a graduating senior at Orem High School in Arizona. The teen said on Facebook that he had been "too slow" Friday night and had previously admitted to using drugs to "trip out."
