Woman Asks Internet to Crack Deceased Grandma's Code; Biblical Solution Found in 13 Minutes! (PHOTOS)

Janna Holm's grandmother, Dorothy Holm, died in 1996 from an aggressive brain tumor that had taken away her ability to speak in her in final days. She left behind a stack of index cards covered with an enigmatic code of capital letters peppered with backwards commas and breaks. Janna and her cousins, all pre-teens at the time, tried to decipher them, but they were stumped.

Janna's father found the cards recently, and she again picked up the case. But this time, she turned to the sleuths on the discussion site Metafilter.com. She told them the story and posted the images below with these clues.

- My grandmother was alive from 1927-1996 and lived in Minnesota.
- Her three children were born in the 50s and most music in the house would have played in the 50s, 60s and early 70s.
- I do not have any of her other index cards, but my aunts may have some. None of them match each other.
- The card does not include anything that her husband recognized, there are no family member initials, etc.
- The letters Z, X and Q never appear. Y only appears in the last line.

Did you figure it out? The discussion thread quickly turned to asking Janna if her grandmother was religious. Within 13 minutes of the original post, user harperpitt posted the solution to image #1, saying "Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name... etc etc etc."

"Holy cow!" Janna replied. "14 minutes to solve the back of the card that has been bugging my family for 20 years! That is amazing!"

She believes Dorothy was using the cards as a sort of cheat sheet to help her remember prayers as the cancer attacked her brain. The other codes appear to be a personal prayer that MetaFilter users continue to work on in the thread.
