WWDC 2012 Live Blogs Open: New MacBook Pro Specs Revealed
Apple's landmark Worldwide Developers Conference 2012 kicks off today, June 11, and the tech. giant is expected to unveil its new computer models at the event, and many sites will be live blogging the event, including CNET, Wall Street Journal and the Huff Post. However, details of two new designs have emerged just hours prior to the event starting, according to reports.
An updated MacPro will come in three new configurations, according to 9to5 Mac; two standard models as well as a server model. The upgrades will be the first desktop upgrade for Apple in nearly two years.
The first standard model will reportedly have specs of a 3.2GHz quad-core processor, 6GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive and the ATI Radeon 5770 graphics chip. The second will include a 2.4GHz 12-core processor and 12 GB of RAM with the same hard drive and graphics chip as the other model.

The more powerful server model will feature a 3.2GHz quad-core processor, 8 GB of RAM and two 1TB hard drives.
Apple is expected to announce upgrades to its MacBook Pro at the event too. Two versions are expected; the first will be similar to the current model, but will have improved specs – it will come in 13-inch and 15-inch versions. The second, however, will feature a Retina display, as featured on Apple's third generation new iPad, and will only come in 15-inch, according to 9to5Mac.
Of the two 13-inch models, one will have a 2.5GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive. The other will have a 2.9GHz dual core processor, 8 GB of RAM and a 750GB hard drive.
The 15-inch version will feature at 2.6GHz quad-core processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 750GB hard drive, with BTO upgrades to 2.7GHz quad core and 1TB hard drives also available.
Other analysts are expecting Apple to retire its 17-inch MacBook Pro model at the WWDC 2012, as the model only accounted for 1.7 percent of the company's notebook sales in Q1 of 2012.
