17-Y/O Hero Daughter Saves Her Family of 9 as Their House Burns Down (VIDEO)
Antwana Tulley woke up at 3:00am and saw the yellow glow of the fire swallowing the first-floor apartment she shared with her mother and seven brothers and sisters. Instinct kicked in and she gathered her siblings, as young as 1-year-old, and headed to the front door. Fire blocked that exit, so she tossed each sibling out the window into the waiting arms of firefighters. Taking action was never a question for the 17-year-old.
"My brothers and sisters come first. They come first," she said. "If anything, let me get on fire before them."
When her siblings were safe, Antwana got her mother, and they escaped the house together. The family is now without a place to spend Christmas, but the Hartford Fire Department is running a toy and gift drive now to give the children something to celebrate with.
