3 contemporary songs that convey the Easter hope of Christ's resurrection
'Window in the Skies' – U2
The song "Window in the Skies," released and recorded by the Irish rock band U2 in 2007, invokes the feeling of peace felt by many Christians during the Easter season, knowing that their Lord has overcome death and taken on the price of their sins.
The shackles are undone/ The bullets quit the gun/ The heat that’s in the sun/ Will keep us when there’s none.
The rule has been disproved/ The stone it has been moved/ The GRAVE is now a groove/ All debts are removed.
Oh can’t you see what love has done/ What it’s doing to me?
According to Lyric Interpretations, the song describes the experience of accepting Christ and the promise of eternal life. The site theorized that the song's title, "Window in the Skies," refers to the "passageway to Heaven" God opened up for all who believe in Him.
"'Love has left a window in the sky' is about Christ's death and resurrection and how this has made it possible for each one of us to follow Him into Heaven," Lyric Interpretation states. "He (Bono) also says, 'all debts are removed,' which is what happened when Christ took the sins of the world upon himself."
