5 Bible Verses to Battle Jealousy
Linguists will argue that the words envy and jealousy have distinct definitions. Envy is supposed to be a reaction to lacking something another person may possess while jealousy is the threat of losing something or someone (usually a special relationship) to a third person.
In modern English though, the words are used almost interchangeably. In expressing jealousy, almost everyone is likely to describe an experience of envy (e.g. "I'm so jealous of your good looks"). Still, jealousy/envy is considered one of the seven deadly sins.
All things of God provide joy, love, peace and contentment. This makes jealousy a tool of the enemy as it leaves the person feeling wanting and discontented. Remember it was jealousy that led to Lucifer's downfall. The best antidote to this sin is to count your blessings and realize that there are others out there who are wishing for what you have.

Here are five verses to help you get rid of jealousy:
1. "You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarelling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?" (1Corinthians 3:3)
2. "And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person's envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind." (Ecclesiastes 4:4)
3. "A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones." (Proverbs 14:30)
4. "But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such 'wisdom' does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and self ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. (Proverbs 27:4)
