8-Y-O Boy Surprises Soldier With $20 and a Note That Will Leave You in Tears (VIDEO)
It was Myles Eckert's lucky day. The 8-year-old had found a $20 bill in the parking lot as his family walked into a Cracker Barrel in Toledo, Ohio. He'd probably buy a video game with the newfound cash. But when he saw Lt. Col Frank Dailey in the restaurant, everything changed.
Like Dailey, Myles' dad served his country, but Myles never knew him. Sgt. Gary "Andy" Eckert, Jr., was killed on Mother's Day in 2005 by a roadside bomb in Iraq, five weeks after Myles was born.
So in honor of his dad, Myles wrapped the $20 in this note and gave it to Dailey.
It reads:
Dear Soldier -
My Dad was a soldier. He's in heaven now. I found this $20 in the parking lot when we got here.
We like to pay it forward in my family. It's your lucky day!
Thank you for your service.
Myles Eckert, a gold star kid.
To Myles, it was $20 and a note. To Dailey, the boy's act was life-changing. And for us to see this story of love and selflessness, we're all a bit lucky.
