Adorable Kitten Born With Backwards Legs Saved, Finds a Home (VIDEO)
All kittens are special little bundles of fluff, but Stockings is really special. Someone found the kitten in the home of a suspected hoarder and brought him to Tree House Humane Society, a "cageless, no kill humane organization specializing in the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and injured stray cats."
The Tree House staff found that Stockings was born with deformed hind legs that were severely extended backwards. His disability didn't tamp down his enthusiasm, but it was unlikely he would survive without help. So, in an experimental procedure in October, surgeons cut the tendons in his hind legs, straightened the legs to a normal orientation and placed a splint on them with the hope they would heal correctly. His left leg healed to full strength, though the right required additional surgeries.
He's a bit unsteady on with his new working limbs, but Stockings is as playful and energetic as any kitty you've seen. He was adopted into a foster home and quickly accepted by the two resident dogs. Doctors are monitoring how Stockings' hind legs hold up, but they're optimistic for the kitten's future.
