Aero 15 X Reviews: Despite GPU Upgrade, Gigabyte's Latest Gaming Laptop's Screen Resolution Still Not That Impressive
While Gigabyte's Aero 15 is already considered as one of the world's thinnest gaming laptop, the Taiwanese electronic brand has made it even more impressive as it released an Aero 15 X model packing an Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics chip.
The Aero 15 X model is the second Max-Q gaming laptop from Gigabyte after it released the GTX 1080-equipped Aorus X5 MD previously. However, as the Aero 15 X packs the Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics chip, Gigabyte points out that the latest model boasts of better graphics quality as compared to the original model.
With the upgrade of its GPU, it is said that Gigabyte's latest gaming laptop is now on equal footing with other admired 15-inch gaming laptops, such as the Asus ROG Zephyrus GX501 and Acer Predator Triton 700.
Except for its upgraded GPU, though, the Aero 15 X is said to be identical with its Nvidia GTX 1060-powered predecessor as both the Aero 15 and the Aero 15 X pack the 7th generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512 GB SSD.
Despite the impressive GPU upgrade, though, the Aero 15 X does not come without some issues. Gamespot, for instance, opines that, while the Aero 15 X's monitor is good, it is not that great after all and comes with some issues with its 1080p TN display.
According to the gaming online publication, the gaming laptop should come with a higher resolution panel or at least one with a faster refresh rate than 60Hz. As it also does not come with G-Sync support, the Aero 15 X cannot offer a variable refresh rate display.
Tech Radar, on the other hand, believes it would have been better if the Aero 15 X came with a screen resolution higher than Full HD. Nonetheless, thanks to its -Rite, Pantone-certificated panel for true color reproduction, which makes up for its not so impressive screen resolution.
The Gigabyte Aero 15 X is slated to hit the store shelves beginning mid-October with a price tag of at least $2,199.
