'Agent Carter': Hayley Atwell Talks Peggy's Future Husband, Stan Lee to Make a Cameo in Upcoming Episode
As seen in the premiere of "Agent Carter," those who tuned in have witnessed how Peggy Carter can take care of herself and doesn't let a man define her. Though Captain America made quite an impression on her, she is perfectly capable of taking care of herself. But fans also know that ultimately, Peggy is going to be married.
In "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," one scene reveals that Captain America saved more than a thousand men on a rescue mission, and one of those men will become Peggy's husband. But who is this mystery man, and when will he be introduced in the series?
"There's fun in trying to figure out: Who is the guy she married?" executive producer Michele Fazekas told Entertainment Weekly.
Hayley Atwell, who plays Peggy Carter, also gave her take on her character's future husband.
"We know from 'Winter Soldier' that by the time that she's in a nursing home, Peggy's had a family, she's been married, she's had kids, and we don't know if we've met that person yet. But it could very well be one of the people she works with," she said.
One likely candidate is Agent Sousa, played by Enver Gjokaj. Because of Sousa's injury, he, just like Carter, is also ostracized at the SSR, and he finds a common bond with Peggy.
Of being Peggy's husband, Gjokaj said, "If I am (her future husband), then they haven't told me about it for sure. I'll put myself in the running. I'll throw my hat in the ring if they'll let me."
But Fazekas said that although Peggy has chemistry with Sousa, he's not the only one who's in the running. There's also a chance that the arrogant Agent Jack Thompson, played by Chad Michael Murray, could be the one.
In other news, Stan Lee will make a cameo in "Agent Carter," according to Variety. Lee will appear in "The Blitzkrieg Button" as a man who has a brief encounter with Howard Stark. The episode will air on Jan. 27.
"Agent Carter" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
