'Agent Carter' Season 2 Synopsis, Release Date: Peggy On A Dangerous Mission in L.A.
Agent Peggy Carter is returning to the small screen on January 5, Tuesday. ABC is pairing it off with another Marvel show, the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Its two-hour premiere will feature Peggy's move to a more glamorous locale, Los Angeles.
According to a report in Collider, the show's official synopsis mentions that Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell) is making the move from New York City, which was the setting of Season 1, to the glitzy place that is Los Angeles. As a top-level agent of the Strategic Scientific Reserve, her move was naturally dictated by her new assignment. The synopsis said: "Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home – and perhaps even a new love – she's about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect."
She continues her work but in a different era as the war is over and it is officially the Atomic Age with invention of the Atomic Bomb. According to another report in Movie News Guide, she also has to contend with the characteristics of a different locale. While Hollywood and Los Angeles may be more glamorous, the dangers that lurk underneath this glamour are very real and may, in fact, be bigger than what she has already encountered in her work.
In the season 2 promo trailer, Carter is shown trying her best to fit into her new work setting. According to the synopsis, she will make new friends and there is a possibility that she may find a new love, in the character of Jason Wilkes, played by Reggie Austin.
Season 2 brings back Atwell to play the lead character, with series regulars James D'Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray as Jack Thompson and Enver Gjokaj as Daniel Sousa. There are new cast members as well such as Kurtwood Smith as Vernon Masters, Wynn Everett as Whitney Frost and this season's Big Bad, and Currie Graham as Frost's partner Calvin Chadwick. Lotte Verbeek is playing Ana Jarvis. Another antagonist is mob boss Joseph Manfredi, played by Ken Marino.
