'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D' news, cast, spoilers: Two groups S.H.I.E.L.D. will be facing off this season

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" season 3 will apparently be exploring many ideas that it has introduced in the second season, while at the same time trying to continuously reinvent itself every year. Although the organization is far from being up to its full potential, it seems that this season will contributd more to the strong foundation that S.H.I.E.L.D. will need in the future.

After the season 3 synopsis was officially released, it seems that aside from the little conflicts during the last season, there will be two main problems that S.H.I.E.L.D. director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his agents will be facing. First would be the revived Hydra, with a more determined and evil-focused Grant Ward leading the terrorist group. Although it seems that they had already been extinguished last season, it apparently was just the beginning as they are coming back with a vengeance.

Another group that will impose a problem from a different angle would be the Advanced Threat Containment Unit (ATCU). Unlike Hydra, ATCU will be much more focused on the Inhumans. With more Inhumans emerging from different corners of the world, more unstable forces will be introduced to the human world as their new powers will prove too much for them to handle. According to TVLine, Jeff Bell, executive producer of the show, shared, "These 'aliens' are popping up all over the world, without anybody to guide them, so there's a lot of fear and paranoia. [The ATCU] really are against us, which forces our team to come together, whereas we were splintered last season."

Comic book fans may recognize one of the new characters this season, which would be Lash. His character will contribute a lot to the Inhumans' storyline, and as being one himself, he will hunt down other newly transformed Inhumans to judge whether their new "gifts" are something they deserved.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 is set to premiere on Sept. 29, Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
