'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 3 News, Spoilers: What's Ahead for Coulson, Daisy; Kevin Tancharoen to Direct Finale

Now that Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents have learned that Hive has taken over former Hydra agent Grant Ward's (Brett Dalton) body, the team will be dealing with their own personal feelings about the discovery while they attempt to take down the enemy.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." executive producers Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about how the S.H.I.E.L.D. team will deal with learning that Hive has control of Ward's body and how Daisy (Chloe Bennet) will handle seeing the mid-season premiere flash-forward.

"This is going to be the most shocking for Coulson because he did something dark but for a good reason, and now he knows he didn't achieve much," Whedon said with a laugh. According to the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." boss, while the discovery will certainly be a major threat for everybody else, it will also bring up Coulson's real feelings about the former S.H.I.E.L.D. turncoat.

As for what's ahead for Daisy, who touched an Inhuman and witnessed a jarring flash-forward in the previous episode, Whedon said, "We'll see that she's rattled by it."

"We'll see how she deals with that and whether or not she feels like she should share it or if she should try to take it on," he added.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with IGN, director Kevin Tancharoen confirmed that he will return to "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." to helm its season 3 finale.

The "Mortal Kombat: Rebirth" director, who helmed the previous episode, titled "Spacetime," is responsible for that episode's one-take fight scene, as well as the one in the show's first season. Previously, Tancharoen, the brother of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen, helmed the season 2 episodes "Face of My Enemy," "The Dirty Half Dozen," and "One of Us." He also directed an earlier season 3 episode, titled "The Purpose in the Machine."

"I want to make sure it sets a new bar in some way from what I've done on the show," Tancharoen told IGN. "This is my first finale, so I want to make sure it's something really solid or there's something signature in there."

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
