Amazon Key News: Prime Members Can Now Accept Deliveries Even When They Are Not Home

E-commerce giant Amazon has added another exclusive experience for their Prime subscribers called the Amazon Key that will enable them to accept deliveries even if they are not at home.

Amazon Prime is the company's paid subscription platform that has offered an array of exclusive services since 2005. Members can request for two-day or sometimes one-day deliveries, and it is also inclusive of streaming music, movies, and TV shows for a monthly or annual fee.

The latest exclusive service Amazon has for their Prime subscribers is the Amazon Key, and based on its introductory video, Prime members can let Amazon deliver and bring the packages inside their homes even if they are not there to accept them.

On top of that, the company has also opened Amazon Key for professional home services such as house cleaning and walking the dogs. Prime members can oversee all these services in real-time by installing the Amazon Key In-Home Kit that costs $249.99.

The kit consists of an exclusive Amazon Cloud Cam that will serve as an indoor security camera so Prime subscribers can remotely watch their deliveries arrive or the work their service providers do inside the house. Amazon added that the Cloud Cam captures images in 1080p Full High-Definition quality and also has a night vision feature.

Prime members can choose from a list of compatible smart locks when purchasing the Amazon Key In-Home Kit. This way, instead of handing out actual keys, they can virtually unlock their front doors -- for a specified duration only -- to let service providers and deliveries in.

Once Prime members have Amazon Key installed, they will receive notifications once deliveries and services are about to arrive so they can watch who opens their door.

However, the Amazon Key has yet to be made available across the United States. Prime members can type in their zip code at the right side of the screen on Amazon Key's product page to check if the service is already available in their location.

Meanwhile, the $249.99 fee for the Amazon Key In-Home Kit also comes with a free installation service.
