Amber Portwood Explains Why She Was 'Nervous' to Tell Her Family She's Pregnant

Amber Portwood was initially worried over how her family would react to her pregnancy.

The "Teen Mom OG" star and her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, are just months into their relationship, but they are already expecting their first child together. Portwood recently caught up with Us Weekly and she admitted that she was a bit uncomfortable about breaking the big news to her family.

"I was nervous," she shared. "Obviously it's nontraditional. Usually parents want you to be married first and things like that. But you know me, if I didn't do things the way I did, I wouldn't be me."

Portwood, who is also mom to 8-year-old Leah Shirley, explained that her parents ended up being happy for her and Glennon. "Andrew just told his family as well and they're very happy for us," she continued.

Portwood and Glennon first met on the "Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition" set. At the time, Portwood and her ex-fiancé Matt Baier were trying to rekindle their relationship, but were unsuccessful. Glennon and Portwood became friends and since then, they started spending time off-camera.

The expecting mom and Baier dated for a couple of years before their split in early 2017. As fans can recall, Baier went through a lie detector test about his alleged involvement with another woman. He failed the test, which led to a huge strain in his relationship with Portwood.

In a previous episode of "Teen Mom," Portwood mentioned that she was not sure she would want more children in the future. After discovering that she was pregnant again, she said she was a "little scared" about raising another child.

"I just kind of sat down and thought about it and realized that it was a big step in my life and it was a good thing," she stated.
