'American Horror Story' Season 6 news: Storyline and Casting

It looks like the producers of "American Horror Story" are taking their sweet time holding on to details about the upcoming season six of the show. A revelation of the storyline is overdue, and fans are eagerly waiting for fresh news. Ryan Murphy only revealed that they are currently working on two possible ideas for the new season's premise. If the way the producers are doing it this year is any indication of what is in store for the show's avid viewers, next season's plot could be something daring and unusual.

Murphy tells Deadline, "The interesting thing about the next season is that we've been working on two ideas at once, which we've never done."

The show has done the timing of announcement differently, when, in the past, they would be dishing it out by Paley Fest. And the setting for this season, which has been revealed by the producers to be in the present for season six, departs from the alternating schedule of being set now in the present, and then next season, in the past. And this time around, it will revolve around children. The most popular theory going around considering this tidbit is that it may be set in an orphanage. Although this has not been confirmed, it is a workable idea, having potential for multitudes of creepy storylines to rise from it.

The series creator adds, "Both things that we're writing right now, we haven't yet declared the winner, will have a different form than we've ever done, so we're excited about that. We'll talk about it soon, but we haven't landed on it."

He also confirms both ideas they are looking at are connected with children.

What is set in stone is that it will be set in Los Angeles, similar to the setting of the previous season. And most, if not all, of the cast will be returning.

"… I will tell you that every darling person up here that wants to come back can come back," the executive producer continues.

And so that means Kathy Bates, Denis O'Hare, Gaboure Sidibe, Cheyenne Jackson, and Matt Bomer are expected to return, given that they have been on the show for at least an episode. It was also confirmed that Lady Gaga will once more join the cast.

A premiere date has not been announced, although the usual timeframe for "American Horror Story" is to come back in the fall, sometime in October.
