The 43rd American Music Awards (AMAs), which will be aired on Sunday, will finally reveal who among the nominated artists have made the biggest impact on their fans.
Jennifer Lopez will host the event, which will be aired live on Nov. 22 at 8/7 CST on ABC. Among those vying for the Artist of the Year award are Ariana Grande, Luke Bryan, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, and Taylor Swift. The nominees for the New Artist of the Year award include The Weeknd, Fetty Wap, Sam Hunt, Walk the Moon, and Tove Lo.
Since the American Music Awards is the biggest fan-voted awards program in the world, the winners are in the hands of the viewers. The nominations for the AMAs are based on this year's performance in terms of sales, video viewing, social network activity, and airplay,. For the Pop/Rock category, the Favorite Male Artist nominees for Pop/Rock category are Nick Jonas, Sam Smith, and Ed Sheeran. Their female counterparts are Ariana Grande, Meghan Trainor, and Taylor Swift. The nominees for the Favorite Duo or Group are Maroon 5, Walk the Moon, and One Direction.
Pop superstar Taylor Swift will most likely take home a handful of awards for the songs from her latest "1989" album, which was nominated for the Favorite Album under Pop/Rock category. The famous female singer garnered six nominations for the AMAs, but she will face off with Ed Sheeran's "x" and Sam Smith's "In the Lonely Hour," the report relays.
As for the Country category, the Favorite Artist nominees are Jason Aldean, Sam Hunt, Luke Bryan, Kelsea Ballerini, Carrie Underwood, and Miranda Lambert. Zac Brown Band, Little Big Town, and Flordia Georgia Line were nominated for Favorite Duo or Group.
