Anderson Silva News: Special Forces Sergeant Tim Kennedy Wants To Fight 'The Spider' Upon Return From Deployment

Special Forces Weapons Sergeant and UFC middleweight fighter Tim Kennedy is looking forward to a potential fight against former long-time champion Anderson Silva.

In his most recent appearance on Submission Radio, the 36-year-old Kennedy says he is keeping a close eye on the upcoming fight between Silva and another UFC veteran, Michael Bisping.

Silva and Bisping are slated to face each other on February 27 at UFC Fight Night 84, which will take place at the O2 Arena in London, England.

It would be "The Spider's" first fight since UFC 183 in January 2015, where he fought and defeated fellow veteran Nick Diaz by unanimous decision. After the fight, Silva tested positive for anabolic steroids, which led to the Nevada Athletic Commission to slap him with a one-year suspension.

Bisping, on the other hand, last fought in July, where he won via unanimous decision against former title contender Thales Leites.

According to Kennedy, he feels he would be facing Silva, if the Brazilian manages to emerge victorious against Bisping.

"Probably if Anderson Silva beats Bisping – which I don't think he will – but if he does, that would be my dream fight, is to wreck Anderson Silva in a round." Kennedy said.

Kennedy adds that the UFC offered him a match with former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida supposedly for March, but he had to turn it down due to his commitments with the US Army.

For Kennedy, taking on either one of the two former Brazilian champions is something he foresees doing, but says facing Silva would be an "easier" task for him to handle.

"So obviously I'd prefer to beat up a former champ, steroid user - and stylistically it's an easier match," he said.

Kennedy currently holds a win-loss slate of 18-5, with 14 victories by stoppage.

He last saw action in September 2014, in a highly controversial fight against contender Yoel Romero. Romero won the fight via a third round TKO.
