Android 5.0 "L" Keyboard App Resurfaces in Amazon App Store

The Android 5.0 or L version keyboard app that was pulled from the Google Play Store a few weeks back is now available in the Amazon App store.

The feature is a copy of the version found in the official Android L developer preview. A developer named Shen Ye put it into the Play store and it was taken out for violating Google's policy. Amazon's store provides him with a place where he can offer it without any repercussions.

Developers were also able to port the preview version of the Android 5.0 "L" update to the HTC One M7 recently.

The port is available for the flagship device, however, it is still in its alpha stages so it doesn't come without its fair share of problems. There is still some limited and reduced functionality as features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, data, camera and sound do not work for it yet.

The preview version was originally only made available for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 Wi-Fi. Google has taken the first step towards getting this software running on other devices. The company might also begin offering preview images for more Nexus devices in the near future. This includes the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012) Wi-Fi and LTE, Nexus 7 LTE and Nexus 10.

XDA developers also figured out a way to flash the preview version of Android 5.0 L version onto the Nexus 4.

Users can install the software using the same method that would be used to flash a custom ROM onto the device. They also released a video of Android L preview running on the Nexus 4. Full installation instructions can be found here.

The new Android software is also expected to roll out for the Moto X and Moto G sometime after it is officially launched.
