Android Marshmallow Update to Be Rolled Out Soon for LG G2, G3, G4

Android Marshmallow will be rolled out soon for LG G Series devices on selected mobile networks soon.

The LG G Series on T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T networks will begin receiving the Android Marshmallow update soon. The said devices include the LG G2, LG G3, LG G4, and LG G Flex 2, according to Yibada.

Most Google Nexus devices already run the newest Android operating system, and the LG G4 is the first non-Nexus smartphone scheduled to receive the update. Recent setbacks have temporarily disrupted the planned schedule, but now users in Europe are already starting to receive the OS update, the report relays.

Last week, Poland was scheduled to receive the Android Marshmallow update, but LG announced that the process was temporarily halted for unknown reasons. Although the rollout has since resumed smoothly, the cause of the delay was not explained, the report details.

Waiting for software updates is nothing new to LG customers, so it will only be a matter of time before they will join the crowd running Android Marshmallow. Of course, the newer handsets will be the first one to get the update. Then, the latest Google OS will be rolled out next across North America and Asia. The LG G4 mobile OS update is expected to be completed by February 2016. After that, the LG G2, G3, and G Flex 2 will be the next recipients of the update, the Gospel Herald reports.

Depending on the presence of bugs and how long before problems are fixed, the Android Marshmallow update could drag on for a couple of months. While there were earlier hopes for the G4 update to be completed by the end of 2015, the delay in Europe could stretch it out until early 2016. And this is not good news for LG because by next year, customers will already begin talking about the LG G5 or the next flagship device of the South Korean firm.

In the meantime, users of the abovementioned LG G Series devices are advised to just wait for the notification about the over-the-air update, which they will receive different times. They can also check for software updates from the phone settings if their handset is already eligible for the Android Marshmallow update.
