'Ant-Man and The Wasp' News, Spoilers: Director Peyton Reed Drops 'Ant-Man' Sequel Spoilers

"Ant-Man and The Wasp" director Peyton Reed has revealed that though the sequel to "Ant-Man" (2014) will have a taste of "heistiness," it will also take the superhero's story in a "different direction."

Reed spoke to ComicBook.com during the world premiere of Marvel's superhero brawler "Captain America: Civil War" in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 12. When asked whether or not any of the Avengers, who Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) is either fighting with or against in "Civil War," could appear in the "Ant-Man" sequel, the director admitted that it's still too early in the film's writing process to confirm any cameo.

Nevertheless, he did share some exciting tidbits about the film.

"We've actually been holed up in the room writing the movie — myself, Paul Rudd, Adam McKay, Andrew Barrer and Gab Ferrari," Reed told the website. "So we're formulating the whole structure of the movie."

"And I can't really tell you too much yet, except there are going to be things in this movie that you've never seen in any movie before," he added. "It's going to be nuts!"

Meanwhile, "Captain America: Civil War" writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus recently spoke about why they ultimately decided to not include The Wasp, played by Evangeline Lilly in "Ant-Man," in the upcoming star-packed superhero film.

As McFeely told The Huffington Post, there was an initial draft for "Civil War" in which both Ant-Man and The Wasp are recruited, but they later decided to cut The Wasp from the film. According to McFeely, they wanted audiences to first see The Wasp's journey into becoming a hero before she joins the crowded world of the Avengers.

"Let's let the 'Ant-Man' franchise show her come to her full fruition as opposed to just doing it offscreen," McFeely said.

"Ant-Man and The Wasp" is slated to arrive in theaters July 6, 2018.

"Captain America: Civil War" drops May 6.
