Apple iPhone 6c Specs: Release In Early 2016 with Colorful Casing
Apple is rumored to launch the iPhone 6c early next year and the new device will have Apple Pay support and colorful casing options.
Rumors about the Apple iPhone 6c release in early 2016 intensified after KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chin Kuo predicted that the upcoming device will be an improved version of the iPhone 5s. Kuo believes the upcoming smartphone will have a 4-inch display and will run on the A9 processor manufactured by TSMC and Samsung, according to MacRumors.
The KGI analyst has a proven record in predicting the future specs and features of Apple products. Kuo said the early launch of the device could help fill in the "slow season" for Apple, especially since the iPhone 7 orders will not begin until one month after the 4-inch model starts production, Apple Insider explains.
Kuo enumerated three reasons for Apple's launch of the iPhone 6c despite the possibility that the model may not generate a lot of money for the company. First, 4-inch smartphones will still make up 8 percent to 9 percent of the total iPhone orders for next year because there is still a demand for this phone size. Second, the phone will help Apple reach the consumers who can only spend between $400 and $500 on a smartphone. Third, the device will have support for Apple Pay, the report relays.
Other expected specs and features of the iPhone 6c are 2.5D cover glass that sports curved edges, metal casing with colorful variants, an 8-megapixel rear snapper, and a 1.2-megapixel front camera. Kuo, however, does not expect the 3D touch feature to be incorporated into the 4-inch model, the report details.
The estimated number of shipments for the iPhone 6c will be at least 20 million, based on Kuo's estimates. Apple will start production early 2016 and the device could come with a price tag of $400 to $500.
