Apple Watch 2 Release Date Rumors: Next-Gen Wearable May Be Unveiled During Apple's March Event
March is fast approaching and with Apple hinting that it will be having an Apple Event during that month, rumors have started circulating about what the company will be announcing during the said event. Among the rumored devices that will be reportedly unveiled is the next-generation wearable, the Apple Watch 2.
According to a report in Macworld UK, this schedule is possible because Apple usually follows a yearly product cycle. It also claimed that the device can be bought beginning April 2016, which is exactly the same month last year when the Apple Watch became available for pre-order.
This rumor is also bolstered by other reports that Apple is planning an event in March, where aside from the Apple Watch 2, the iPhone 6c and the iPad Air 3.

While the Apple Watch had innovative features, the Apple Watch 2 is expected to be better than its predecessor in the health tracking side. According to the report, the next Watch may likely have many health sensors which can be used in a variety of ways.
Battery life is one area that most Apple Watch users are complaining about. Health tracking for sleep for example will be useless if a user needs to charge the Apple Watch every single night. In order to remedy this, the report cited that Apple is working on making thinner OLED displays so that a bigger battery is possible.
Another rumored feature, if true, will be a first among smartwatches. According to the report, FaceTime video calling will be made possible with the Apple Watch 2 through a FaceTime video camera. This idea is not far off as the Apple Watch already has support for FaceTime audio calls.
Given the Apple Watch's dependence on an iPhone, it would be refreshing to see the Apple Watch 2 with better functionality even when it is not paired with an iPhone. According to the report, this will be made possible via a new wireless chipset that will be installed in the new device.
