'Assassin's Creed: Syndicate' Gameplay Spoilers: Third Playable Character And Secret WW I Area Discovered

"Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" offers some sort of surprise within the game, which publisher Ubisoft naturally did not mention when it was promoting the recently released stealth adventure game. According to a video report by gaming website Eurogamer, the game offers an additional playable character, beyond the two protagonists of the game, in the character of Lydia Frye. Aside from this, the report also cited a discoverable new area set in the time of World War I.

The video report opens with the unannounced protagonist, Lydia Frye, standing on a dock with the Tower Bridge in the distance. It reveals that the secret mode allows the player to control Lydia, who is also a trained assassin, as she carries out missions in a new setting which is World War I. As most gamers know, "Syndicate" is set in Victorian London with twin assassins Jacob and Evie Frye. Lydia is said to be a granddaughter of Jacob and grand-niece of Evie.

The report likewise reveals when the secret mode will be unlocked, which supposedly happens after a player has unlocked Sequence Six of the game, approximately after 10 to 15 hours of gameplay. A portal to the secret mode appears upon unlocking which transports the player to the new game setting. The secret area consists of a wide area and a handful of missions, which differentiates it from other time travel modes in older "Assassin's Creed" games that were only short challenges.

According to a report in Tech Times, Lydia has "full access" to the skill tree which helps her carry out her missions. Within the secret mode, Lydia will also be handed a mission by no other than a young Winston Churchill, the report added.

In related news, the game will also be receiving double the amount of patches, according to Ubisoft. As cited in an iDigital Times report, community developer Gabe Graziani responded in the game's subreddit after rumors that the patch will require 18 GB of space. He wrote, "We actually have two patches that will be available on Day 1. The first patch (titled 1.10) will be 541MB, the second (titled 1.11) will be 534MB. Not sure where 18GB came from... neither of the patches you will need to download are anywhere near that big."
