Avril Lavigne Wedding Confirmed, Wed Chad Kroeger in 3-Day Celebration
Avril Lavigne did in fact get married to Chad Kroeger on Monday, despite reports indicating that the pair was simply having a party. The musical duo wed during a ceremony in South France's Chateau La Napoule that night.
The vows were followed by a reception that lasted well into the next day, insiders say.
"It was a wild, all-night party with drinking, dancing, incredible food and lots of laughter and tears of happiness," said a source speaking to Us Weekly. "It was a truly amazing wedding, absolutely magical."
The wedding also included three days in the South of France, and Monday's lavish celebration was topped off with fireworks.
"Avril and Chad has glasses of wine in their hands and were kissing as fireworks popped overhead and sparkled down," added a second source at Us Weekly.
"I just want to make sure I really enjoy this time," said the singer. "I want all the guests who come to have this once in a lifetime experience and I want everyone to say 'Wow!' and for it to be special for everyone, not just us."
Coincidentally, Lavigne and her new husband, who are both Canadian, tied the knot on what is known as Canada Day, July 1.
Lavigne and the Nickelback front man first announced their engagement back in August 2012.
Many fans were shocked at her engagement to Kroeger as Lavigne had recently been linked to reality television star Brody Jenner. The news of her engagement hit on the same day as Jenner's birthday, sparking rumors that the singer was seeking revenge.
"He makes her so happy," a family friend told People magazine of Kroeger at the time. "Both of their families could not be more excited."
The couple reportedly met while working on a new song for her latest album.
"A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together," Lavigne's friend told the magazine.
The wedding was the first for Kroeger, but was Lavigne's second. The "Here's To Never Growing Up" singer was previously married to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley for three years until 2009.
