'Bad Boys' TV Spinoff in the Works, Gabrielle Union to Star
A "Bad Boys" spinoff is being developed for TV.
The hit movie franchise is getting a TV series spinoff, according to reports. The still-untitled project will focus on the character played in the second film installment by Gabrielle Union, who will be reprising her role in the upcoming show.
Further details about the new program are still being kept under wraps. However, sources reveal that the project is being pitched to different TV networks and it has already received strong interest from various places. It is expected to land a major deal soon. The TV show comes from "Bad Boys" producer Doug Belgrad and Jerry Bruckheimer. Sony Pictures TV serves as the studio for the series.

Union's character Sydney "Syd" Burnett is an undercover DEA operative, who is the sister of Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence). She also became a love interest for Marcus' partner, Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey (Will Smith).
Cinemablend points out that this spells good news for Union's fans, since the actress' BET series "Being Mary Jane" has been recently canceled. It will be wrapping up with a TV movie finale in early 2018.
Union, 45, is happily married to Cleveland Cavaliers star Dwyane Wade, 35. She previously opened up about her and her husband's heartbreaking struggle to conceive a child of their own.
In her memoir, "We're Going to Need More Wine," Union revealed she spent three years of enduring failed IVF treatments. "I have had eight or nine miscarriages," she wrote. "For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — I've either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle."
Union is stepmom to Wade's sons Zaire, 15, and Zion, 10, and his 16-year-old nephew, Dahveon Morris.
