'Bates Motel' Season 4 Spoilers: Will There Ever Be A 'Normero'? Premiere Confirmed In March 2016
The horror television series "Bates Motel" has been confirmed to return for its fourth season on A&E in March. The upcoming season continues the story of Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) and his mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga) and their life in the quiet, fictional town of White Pine Bay, Oregon. The mother and son pair own and manage a small hotel called Bates Motel.
A report in International Business Times mentioned that the upcoming season may delve into whether Norma and Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) will ever come together. According to the report, some of the show's regular cast members hinted at a possible budding relationship between the two characters. Farmiga posted a photo on Twitter with the caption "To Normero or not to Normero, that is the question."
Norma and the sheriff have had a complicated relationship so far and not without its tense moments. The sheriff however did kill Bob Paris in the season 3 finale, when Paris threatened the life of Norma and his son.
The Design and Trend report also included casting news for the upcoming season. Jaime Ray Newman will be joining the cast as a recurring character. She will be playing Rebecca Hamilton, who is said to be Sheriff Romero's former girlfriend who is still enamored with him. Another recurring character is Dr. Gregg Edwards, to be played by Damon Gupton, who is reported to be Norma's love interest in the upcoming season, according to the report.
The presence of these new characters will certainly make things more interesting for Norma and Sheriff Romero. In April, executive producer Carlton Cuse hinted that the two characters will eventually come together. He said that they are developing the story so that viewers want them to get together. He added, "We feel like we have an epic couple with Norma and Romero. We plan to deliver on the promise of that at some point, in some form."
"Bates Motel" Season 4 will premiere in March 2016. Like the previous seasons, this season will have 10 episodes. This series is a prequel or origins story of Norman Bates, the main character in the Alfred Hitchcock film "Psycho," set in contemporary time.
