'Batman vs Superman' News: Film Adds $46 Million to Global Figures

As of Monday, "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" has racked up $46 million to add to its over $420 million haul worldwide.

According to Variety, the double-digit figure adds up to a worldwide total of $468.6 million. While the numbers are pretty huge for the first opening weekend, critics are looking closely at the total number that will come out after the second and third weeks.

Another issue that the world is looking at is the apparent split among both critics and fans alike. Some critics have bad reviews while others gave either undecided or good comments. The outlet notes that a huge drop is likely if word of mouth focusing on negative insights spreads fast.

Insiders from some studios say social media users have given more positive than negative reviews, which is something that could lead to a good week for the Zack Snyder film.

China is one of the regions that bring about large numbers when it comes to big screens. When the movie opened in China, it was reported that the three-day weekend allotted a total of $57 million for Snyder and his team. Since the final numbers are still being computed, it is unclear if the film will continue to do well in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Cinema Blend provides a number of Easter eggs and interesting insights on the movie that some viewers might have missed. One of the smart secrets is Lex Luthor's (Jesse Eisenberg) inmate number.

Once taken by the FBI into custody, Lex had to have his head shaved and was given a quite remarkable and iconic prison inmate number that the world will never forget: 16-TK-421. According to the outlet, 16 is obviously derived from the year the movie was released while the following characters have a deeper meaning.

In the 1977 "Star Wars" film, TK-421 was one of the guards who stood by the Death Star's detention area. The said guard's story doesn't end with the Death Star as it should be noted that Princess Leia was housed inside the detention facility where TK-421 stood guard.

"Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" is now showing in theatres.
