BJ Penn News: 'The Prodigy' Comes Out Of Retirement To Fight Grudge Match

Two-division UFC world champion BJ Penn has come out of retirement to face featherweight fighter Nik Lentz in a supposed grudge match.

"The Prodigy" last saw action in July 2014, where former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar dominated him for the third time during their fight at the Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale. The fight ended via third round technical knockout. Penn, now 37, has since retired and stayed out of professional mixed martial  arts competitions.

But after claiming to be called out by Lentz through various means, the mixed martial arts veteran and legend says he is willing to make a come back.

"Nik you wrote a silly poem about me making fun of me, you said stuff about me and my parents, and you been making a #bringpennback hashtag, I ask you today to be a man and back up everything you said, talk the talk walk the walk uncle BJ is mad already," Penn wrote through an Instagram post, with a photo of himself raising two fists.

In another report by Yahoo! Sports, the beef between Penn and Lentz was originally from another quarrel between the former champion and nutritionist Mike Dolce. Lentz is one of Dolce's fighters.

The younger featherweight fighter did respond to that said first call out by lambasting Penn for being a "spoiled little rich kid" who he claims is all about talking.

As for the most recent call out and announcement by Penn, Lentz also offered his response. Lentz, who is six years younger than Penn, did say that the fight should happen at 155-pounds, as he claims it would be more about taking care of his long-term health and short-term performance.

He then suggested that Penn should do the same, for his own wellbeing.

Many criticized Penn's performance against Edgar, as many believe that the move to 145 may not have been the best idea for him.
