Mexico have boldly declared their intentions for the game, saying they will select an unchanged side from their opening match. Coach Miguel Herrera will also refuse to sit back and try and gain the draw. He has confirmed a 5-3-2 formation for the game and boasted about his team's intention to attack Brazil. Javier Hernandez there will start on the bench.
On paper this may appear like a straightforward game for Brazil to win. However, a closer look would reveal the fact that no other team in the world has defeated Brazil more times in the 21st Century as Mexico.
Amazingly since the turn of the century Mexico are winning on their head to head record against Brazil; winning 6, drawing 2, and losing 4 of their 12 games against one another.
Brazil's Oscar has said ahead of the game: "We know that Mexico are a good team, they always give Brazil a hard time and it won't be any different when we play in the next match. They play the ball out from the back well and are very good on the counter-attack."
Both Brazil and Mexico won their opening games in the World Cup last week, which means whoever wins today should almost certainly qualify for the next round.
For Mexico to pull off a shock though they will have to deal with Brazilian young superstar Neymar. Mexico captain Rafael Marquez has said, "We have to cover, have two against one, be fast and reduce the spaces on the pitch and not let him (Neymar) play. We know the talent of Neymar, Oscar, Hulk but we will train in ways to handle them. We have to make the most of this opportunity - it is a showcase for all of us."
