'Breaking Bad' Director in Talks With Warner Bros. to Direct 'Wonder Woman' Film

DC Comics is also making their own line of superhero films with "Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice" slated for a 2016 release. Another DC Comics Universe film "Wonder Woman" is also in the works slated for a 2017 release and it appears that Warner Bros. has been looking for a director. Only recently has it been revealed that a female director is in talks to direct the film.

At first, Lexi Alexander – the director for "Punisher: War Zone" – was initially to direct the film but turned down the role. Now, Breaking Bad executive producer/director Michelle MacLaren has been enlisted to serve as the helm of "Wonder Woman" starring Gal Gadot.

Currently, MacLaren is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct the film, which will be produced by Charles Roven for a June 23, 2017 premiere. Roven also produced "The Dark Knight" trilogy, "Man of Steel," and the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

MacLaren is also credited with being the main director of the popular television series "Breaking Bad" having directed 11 out of the 62 episodes during the series' run. She is also credited with having directed four episodes of the "Game of Thrones" and three for "The Walking Dead." If she decides to sign with Warner Bros., "Wonder Woman" will be her first big-screen project.

Details about the upcoming "Wonder Woman" film are scarce right now but the character will first be appearing during "Dawn of Justice." "Wonder Woman" will be the first superhero film to feature a female lead since "Elektra" which premiered 2005.
