Breast Cancer Awareness Efforts Include "Pinkathon" Marathon and Social Media Sharing

Efforts that involve raising breast cancer awareness is no new thing but it continually goes on as breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths among women worldwide. And though there are available treatments for it already, it is most effective only when detected early. Thus, various organizations and personalities are putting up different activities, events and movements to raise awareness of the disease.

According to NDTV, a marathon called "Pinkathon" has been exclusively organized for women to create awareness about breast cancer. The event will be held in Goa and will take place on April 17. It will be a 10-km run and it is going to take place in association with Miracle Munj and Vasco Sports Club at Miramar.

Milind Soman, supermodel, fitness enthusiast and the Ironman Triathlon finisher at Zurch, Switzerland, said that the marathon is an initiative of India Going Pink, which is a concept started by United Sister's Foundation. "Goa Going Pink is a model run under Pinkathon's umbrella to take the awareness to all the other cities and towns in India to make women adopt healthier lifestyle and have a positive attitude for life," Soman said.
