Britney Spears News: Pop Star Confirms that She's Working on a New Studio Album
After almost two years since she last released her last album "Britney Jean," Britney Spears finally confirmed that she is currently working on a new album via Twitter.
According to People, the 33-year-old singer confirmed on her Twitter account that she just finished recording a new song last Oct. 29. "JUST finished recording some vox. LOVE this song. It makes ME smile, and I hope it will make you smile too…#B9," Britney posted last Thursday.
The website pointed out that she used the hashtag "B9," which possibly means that she's working on her ninth studio album. The mother of two finally made it official with her follow-up post on her social media account as she tweeted, "Working hard and hardly working...new album...wheeeee!"
Britney shared the news with a photo of her and her team of writers, Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels. According to the Latin Post, the two writers were behind Justin Bieber's "Sorry," Gwen Stefani's "Used To Love You," and some of the songs from the girl group "Fifth Harmony."
Britney's eighth album did not fare well on the hit charts when it was released in 2013. The website said that "Britney Jean" only reached number 4 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Perez Hilton even said that Britney's last song, 'Pretty Girls," with Iggy Azalea, was "less-than-hit-song."
The "Toxic" singer, however, did not confirm the release date of her album yet.
Meanwhile, Britney also announced to her fans on Instagram that she will be staying at Las Vegas for a couple more years. "Okay I have some big news tonight. Usually I get you guys to help me count to three, but tonight I want you to help me count to two because I'm going to be in Vegas for two more years," the singer said on a video she posted on her Instagram account.
