'Call the Midwife' Season 5 , Episode 6 Spoilers: Another Bad Day for Dr. Turner
The upcoming episode of "Call the Midwife" season 5 promises another round of drama for Dr. Turner, who recently started realizing the consequences of his medical malpractices and mistakes.
Dr.Turner (Stephen McGann) realized in the previous episode that his addiction to smoking isn't really helping his health at all. While it is surprising that the medical practitioner didn't realize earlier what could happen to him, it could also be that he was merely in denial. On the other hand, McGann recently told Radio Times that the show was set at a time when research about the effects of smoking was new and there was not enough data to link long-term bad effects to the habit.
As fans already know, Dr. Turner is the epitome of a medical practitioner who can't act on what he teaches. While his character had a hard time realizing that addiction to smoking could be life-threatening, McGann teased that the doctor's cigarette days "could be numbered."
Fans can then expect to see in the next episodes how Dr. Turner may slowly ease away from smoking and become a living example of why people shouldn't follow after his footsteps.
Meanwhile, episode 6 will allow for the doctor to get on a camping trip, but everything will go wrong after he realizes that his patients may be at risk while he is away and enjoying the holidays. It is yet to be revealed what issue Turner will be faced with next, but fans can expect that all the drama he is involved in may finally take a toll on his lifestyle and practices.
The synopsis obtained by Carter Matt also reveals that the upcoming episode will further explore how women in the show's era do not have the courage that women of today have. A series of violent attacks will rock the town, and despite the number of ladies being shamed by the attacker, it seems the women still have no faith in the system that's supposed to protect their rights.
"Call the Midwife" season 5, episode 6 airs Sunday, Feb. 21, on BBC1.
