Cancer Cure News: Research Reveals Acupuncture's Potency in Treatment of Colorectal Cancer

While acupuncture is considered to be one of the most effective methods of treating body pains and other ailments, recent reports claim that the ancient Chinese medicine method has shown potency in the treatment of several types of cancer.

According to reports, a research team from the Department of Energy Science and Engineering of Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) has discovered that combining acupuncture and nanotechnology may cure several types of cancer, including colorectal cancer.

The team, which is headed by Professor Su-Il and worked in collaboration with Dr. Eunjoo Kim of the Companion Diagnostics & Medical Technology Research Group and Daegu Haany University's Professor Bong-Hyo Lee and his aides from the College of Oriental Medicine, discovered that the molecular biologic indicators related to anticancer effects changed through acupuncture.

Professor In's team has developed nanoporous needles with microscopic holes by applying simple electrochemical nanotechnology. Because of this, the surface area of the needle has multiplied and doubled the electrophysiological signal generation function by needle stimulus.

Based on the results of Professor In's research, those rats that received periodic acupuncture treatment with nanoporous needles were discovered to have a much lower incidence of abnormal vascular clusters that are considered to be a precursor to colorectal cancer.

"This research, which combines nanotechnology and oriental medicine technology, is a scientific study that shows the possibility of using acupuncture as a method to treat severe diseases such as cancer. From now on, I will challenge the development of a new medical market by conducting a follow-up convergence study that identifies the potential benefits and efficacy of acupuncture," Professor In said.

While more research will be needed until it can be established with conclusiveness that acupuncture can, indeed, cure cancer, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently sent warning letters to four companies selling various marijuana-derived products such as oil and capsules, and claiming that they can treat or cure a disease as the products have never been studied as treatment yet.

According to FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, the agency will not allow companies to deliberately mislead sick people with their baseless claims, including those companies selling marijuana-containing products.
