Canon EOS 80D Launched, Features 24MP Sensor, NFC And Wi-Fi

Canon has just launched their latest addition in their DSLR camera line, the EOS 80D. According to a report by Cinema5D, the new photographic equipment is an update to the 70D which was released back in 2013. It is aimed specifically for advanced amateurs and semi-professionals, as well as wedding photographers who are on a budget.

The camera is also deemed to have a moderately higher-resolution version of the company's Dual Pixel CMOS sensor. As detailed in Engadget, it features a 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor with a DIGIC 6 processor. It is also equipped with a 45-point all-cross-type autofocus (plus dual-pixel system), 7 fps continuous shooting and a native ISO range that can go up to 16,000.

It also comes with new kit lens and accessories including the fresh 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS which is a nano USM lens. As detailed in the press release of Canon, the new lens is optimized for "high-speed autofocusing when shooting stills and quiet and smooth zoom when shooting video." It's also said to be compatible with the company's new Power Zoom Adapter which can produce smooth cinematic "pulls" upon adjusting a subject's focal length. .

Other updated features in the Canon EOS 80D include the built-in Wi-Fi and NFC capability which allows the user to easily and smoothly transfer the images and movies to compatible mobile devices. It also has a Vari-angle Touch Screen 3.0-inch Clear View LCD II monitor that allows flexible positioning and clear viewing even outdoors.

Moreover, it also comes with an Intelligent Viewfinder with approximately 100 percent viewfinder coverage. Through this particular feature, photographers will not miss objects that are positioned in the corners of the scene so that cropping images will be reduced during the editing process. It has also a touchscreen capability to make focusing on a particular point or item easy especially when shooting video.

Buyers who are interested will have to wait for next month for its availability as it is currently scheduled to be released in March 2016. The estimated retail price is $1,199 for the body only. The selling price will be $1,799 if it will come with the new IS USM lens and $599.99 for the lens only.
