'Captain America: Civil War' News, Spoilers: Film Could Have As Many As 3 Post-Credits Scenes, Director Reveals
Marvel fans heading to movie theaters when "Captain America: Civil War" comes out should probably stay glued to their seats when the film ends.
According to Joe and Anthony Russo, the brothers behind the upcoming Marvel superhero spectacle, there could be more than one post-credits sequence following the film.
While avid Marvel fans have been speculating that the film could treat fans to a glimpse of a new Marvel Cinematic Universe character, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), the Russos have not confirmed what the post-credits scenes will be about or who will appear in them.
They did, however, tease that fans should look forward to what comes after "Captain America: Civil War." In a recent interview with Forbes, Joe said, "We can't say who is going to be in it but we can say that there certainly could be one, or two, maybe three."
"We can confirm that you should stay sat in your seats when the movie is done," he said.
There are a number of MCU characters who are likely to appear in the "Civil War" post-credits scenes. "Doctor Strange" is currently in production and is scheduled for release in November. As the film is the next MCU project to premiere after "Civil War," it makes sense that the titular fictional superhero could be teased at the end of the film.
Though "Thor: Ragnarok" has yet to begin filming, it is also possible that "Civil War" could give a nod to the Avengers who don't appear in the superhero-packed film and give fans an update on what Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) are up to.
Or it could be the madcap bunch in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" appearing in a teaser at the end of "Civil War." Like "Doctor Strange," the "Guardians" sequel is currently in production, although the film will not be released until 2017.
"Captain America: Civil War" opens May 6.
