Catherine Zeta-Jones Courted By Michael Douglas with Pancakes?
Michael Douglas is reportedly desperate to make his marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones work despite their recent separation.
As a result of his determination, Douglas is allegedly paying Zeta-Jones frequent visits and is even regularly making her favorite morning dish-pancakes.
The pair, who have been married 13 years, announced their separation in a joint statement on Aug. 28th.
Nevertheless, Douglas has continued wearing his wedding band and has repeatedly voiced certainty that his marriage will prevail.
Now, an inside source said the 69-year-old actor is pulling all the stops to make his marriage to the Welch actress work, including making his famous fluffy pancakes, according to the U.K.'s Mirror.
"Michael would give his right arm for a reconciliation but Catherine's warned she is not ready to commit and she's still not ruled out divorce," a friend of the actor said.
As it turns out, Zeta-Jones is reportedly still fuming over Douglas having attributed his tongue cancer to oral sex- a comment he has since claimed was taken out of context.
"She nursed him through those dark days when cancer almost took his life and she feels the comment about oral sex was like a kick in the teeth," the insider noted.
In recent months, Douglas has been living elsewhere in a temporary bachelor pad near his wife. In order to reclaim Zeta-Jones' trust and affection, the actor is reportedly visiting the New York City apartment he once shared with his wife and the kids- Dylan and Carys where he makes pancakes.
"When he's in New York, he makes the kids breakfast and comes back in the evening to watch TV with them before bedtime," the insider said, according to the Mirror. "Then he gets his marching orders from his wife and returns to sleep at this own place in Manhattan."
Although they have not yet reconciled, Zeta-Jones is reportedly touched by Douglas' sweet efforts.
"It's very sweet when he turns up at the apartment to cook for them because he so desperately wants to be back as a part of the family's life," the insider continued. "Catherine thinks it's really touching he's being so hands-on with the kids- and he's praying it's the key back into her heart."
With all of his efforts, Douglas is hoping to have his marriage back on track in time for Christmas.
"Christmas will be a crucial time if they're to get back together for good," said the insider at the Mirror. "And Michael will be there on bended knee."
