Celine Dion to Donate Money From Concert to Victims of Las Vegas Shooting
Celine Dion donates her concert earnings to the victims of the horrific Las Vegas shooting.
It was an emotional Tuesday night for Celine Dion as she returns for her Las Vegas show. Just two days prior, Las Vegas became host to the deadliest mass shooting in US history, and the city is still reeling from the horrific event. One would think it would've been better for Celine to cancel her show altogether but the famed singer had other plans. For Celine, it was the perfect opportunity to bring something good out of the tragedy thus announcing her intention to donate all of the concert proceedings for that show to the victims of the Vegas shooting.
As per videos recorded by fans of the singer, Celine starts the show by directly addressing the tragedy to the audience. She confessed that she was conflicted about doing the show following the shooting but had ultimately decided to continue on to show her love and support to the victims.
"On Sunday, we lost too many beautiful, innocent souls and so many are still suffering. But tonight, we are going to let these families know that we are supporting them and that we will help them through their tragic loss," she tells the crowd. "They are going to need a lot of love, a ton of emotional support, as well as a great deal of financial aid," she added.
The "All By Myself" singer also assured the crowd that they had made the right choice to be on her show as all of the proceeds would be given to the victims of the shooting as financial assistance.
Celine Dion's actions are definitely in contrast with Jennifer Lopez who canceled her show following the tragedy, and Jason Aldean, who was performing at the Route 91 Harvest music festival when the shootings began.
The tragedy of Sunday night's shooting took 58 lives and injured 400 more.
