Channing Tatum: I'm A 'High-Functioning Alcoholic'

Channing Tatum recently offered a candid interview where he discussed his career, home life, and his tendency to drink alcohol.

The "Jupiter Ascending" actor has appeared in a whopping five movies this year alone. Moreover, Tatum and wife Jenna Dewan recently became parents to a daughter, Everly. While discussing his intense filming schedule over the past few years, Tatum revealed he enjoys beer, bourbon, and cake- perhaps a little bit too much. The actor admitted to identifying himself as a "high-functioning alcoholic" while speaking to GQ magazine.

"I probably drink too much, you know," he said. "My wife, that's what she bought into … I'm probably a high-functioning, I guess, you know, I would say, alcoholic, I guess."

The actor went on to explain that alcohol relaxes him and provides an "escape" that may even heighten his creativity.

"I definitely equate it to having a good time," he added.

However, Tatum noted that the arrival of his daughter as well as the rigorous workout routine required for the film "Magic Mike" slowed down his alcohol intake. As for the cake, Tatum explained his favorite kind without restraint.

"I just love cake," he told GQ. "Confetti cake, to be specific. It has little colored candies inside the cake, and then you get the confetti icing, which is really hard to find sometimes … It's a beautiful mix. It is an angel sent from heaven."

The indulgent cake and alcohol admission arrives shortly after Tatum admitted to being "fappy," meaning fat and happy, while speaking to Ellen DeGeneres.

"Right now, what me and my wife like to call it, I am very fappy," he said, explaining that it meant fat and happy. "I've been working for two straight years and now it's time for some really needed downtime."

Meanwhile, Tatum will appear in "The Book of Life," "Magic Mike XXL" and "Gambit" in the coming months. Watch a clip of the actor here.
