Cheryl Burke Pounds Shed: 'DWTS' Pro Reveals Weight Loss Method
Cheryl Burke, a professional dancer on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars," recently revealed her 15-pound weight loss as well as the method for shedding the pounds.
The two-time "DWTS" champion gave up "yo-yo" dieting and opted instead for a healthy diet, exercise, and one extra boost- the support of a friend. The "DWTS" pro went from weighing 135 pounds to 120 pounds recently.
"[I] tried every diet you could think of," Burke told Us Weekly.
The reality television star was able to slim down by eating "clean" foods and cutting portions, six years after internet critics dubbed the dancer "fat" on 2008. Burke even shared an example of her daily meal plan with Us Weekly that includes a turkey bacon and egg white wrap for breakfast, turkey bacon on a Cobb salad with dressing on the side for lunch, and a lentils, peppers and corn salad from Whole Foods for dinner.
Furthermore, Burke works out as much as she can and has a friend to help motivate her. The "DWTS" pro and former "DWTS" contestant Leah Remini hit the gym for 90-minute training sessions together.
"We push each other," Burke explained to People.com of her work out buddy.
With so many diet programs to choose from, many advocate that eating different or less is not enough to effectively lose weight. The key to weigh loss is combining diet with exercise. However, many people trying to lose weight by changing their diet and exercising find that their busy schedules do not permit time for the gym. Fortunately for Burke, she and Remini motivate each other to make the time for working out while also providing accountability.
"We really bonded," Burke recalled of meeting Remini while on "DWTS" season 17. "She lives down the street from me so we're able to get up in the morning and work out together. When you have a buddy to work out with, you don't want to flake on that person."
