Christian Karaoke Game to Release 'Gold' Edition

A PC-compatible karaoke game featuring Christian music will be releasing its "Gold" edition this fall, one year after releasing its first edition and months after releasing its Christmas and Christian Rock expansion packs.

Heavenly Harmony, which was quickly welcomed by reviewers and customers after its debut last September, will be releasing Heavenly Harmony Gold this September, making available new songs from leading Christian artists including Avalon, Newsboys, and Steven Curtis Chapman.

The Heavenly Harmony projects are part of a long-term distribution agreement between EMI Christian Music Group (CMG) and entertainment software developing company Cloud 9 Games.

"Home family entertainment continues to be a growing category and a bright spot for Christian retail sales and the musical element of Cloud 9 Games' products aligns perfectly with EMI CMG Distribution's business," commented Greg Bays, senior vice president of sales and marketing for EMI CMG Distribution, in a press release announcing their agreement last month. "We believe in Cloud 9 Games and feel confident of our ability to help them grow Heavenly Harmony and their other family friendly games."

The founder and the president of Cloud 9 Games, Curtis Rica, is an experienced game developer who wanted to provide an alternative solution to mainstream entertainment, which is often filled with sex and violence. Prior to Heavenly Harmony, Cloud 9 Games produced the award-winning "Solomon Says" Bible trivia software series.

"Heavenly Harmony provides features never before found in any computer game, and the fact that it's a Christian-themed game makes it even more exciting," Rica stated prior to the games' unveiling last year. "Never before has there been a singing game that offers the type of feedback this game provides."

Through a hand-held microphone (included), Heavenly Harmony (for Windows) allows players to sing to their favorite tunes and rates the singer according to his/her accuracy with the games' pitch-recognition technology. As their singing skills improve, players unlock clothing options for their characters and move on to bigger and better performance venues. Mini-games further allow the player to improve their singing skills.

The original Heavenly Harmony package contained 25 familiar Christian songs, and the expansion packs include "Christmas Classic," with 20 Christmas songs and carols, and more recently "Christian Rock," with popular Christian artists such as Kutless, Jeremy Camp, Audio Adrenaline, Sanctus Real, This Beautiful Republic and Falling Up.

The upcoming Heavenly Harmony Gold will have 30 new songs from top-notch Christian artists. Songs from Avalon, Newsboys, and Steven Curtis have already been confirmed.

According to an announcement late last year, several more expansion packs may be in the works, including Modern Praise and Worship, Contemporary Christian and Hymns/Gospel.
