Cleveland Cavaliers News: LBJ, Dellavedova Join Forces to Escape Warriors' Late Game 2 Surge, 2 Wins Away From NBA Title

Four-time MVP LeBron James put up a masterful 40-point, 12-rebound, and 8-assist performance to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors at the Quicken Loans Arena, last night.

James fired from all cylinders throughout the game, which Cleveland mostly dominated before the Warriors made a furious run late in the fourth.

The Cavs built a 20-point lead in the third period, behind the hot shooting of James and J.R. Smith from downtown. However, Curry and company had other things in mind, and managed to inch closer until the final four minutes where they only trailed by six, 81-76.

Steph Curry had a poor shooting night in the first three quarters, a result of the defense of Matthew Dellavedova, but exploded for 17 in the fourth to keep Golden State's hopes alive. For the entire game, Curry drained five triples, the last came with only 18.9 seconds with the Cavs leading 94-91.

"I think I found something when it comes to how I'm going to be able to attack their pick-and-rolls," Curry said in the post-game interview. "I'll keep that in the memory bank going into Game 4."

Meanwhile, as for James, he became the first player in NBA history to score the most points in three consecutive NBA Finals games with his 123 points. Fortunately, Dellavedova helped with 20 of his own, three of which coming in the dying minutes of the fourth.

Game 4 will be on Thursday night at the Cavs' home court, before returning to Oracle Arena in Oakland.
