Conor McGregor News: 'The Notorious' Branded As Sell-Out By Irishman Journalist
Reigning UFC featherweight champion and current lightweight title challenger Conor McGregor was lambasted by one of his fellow Irishmen.
Because of his brash, outspoken personality, "The Notorious" has his equal share of both fans and haters. What has brought him to his superstar status, however, is the fact that he is able to back up his predictions, so far.
The manner of which he has promoted himself has also earned him the fights that he wants to take. Originally slated to face former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar as promised by UFC president Dana White, McGregor was able to talk himself into fighting 155-pound Rafael dos Anjos instead.
The said fight will be taking place at the main event of UFC 196, which is slated for March 5th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
While many people around the world love his antics, some people are not a fan of it. Most surprisingly, some of there are his fellow Irishmen. In an opinion piece released by journalist J.P. O'Malley for the Irish news outlet Independent.ie, it was McGregor's "arrogant persona" that he found most appalling.
"It's hard to figure out if McGregor has the even the most basic intellectual faculties required to think before he speaks, given just how outrageous some of his comments have been," an excerpt of O'Malley's report reads.
O'Malley is also condemning how McGregor has bannered Irish people towards the rest of the world, noting that he is doing his antics merely to "enhance his image in the United States."
"The paddywhackery 'Oirish' card McGregor constantly plays - to enhance his image in United States - is as embarrassing as it is ridiculous," another line of O'Malley's report reads.
McGregor was never one to shy away from brandishing the fruits of his labor, through expensive watches and suits. This has led undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. to cry out "racism," noting how the Irishman is often praised for such behavior, while he himself is often branded as "arrogant and cocky."
