However, it was stated that the serial killer she is following will head to the United States. With that, she will be asking for her former team's help in order to find the killer. While that is her purpose for the return, it was revealed that her character was brought back in order to help transition from the recent departure of Derek Morgan.

With that, the executive producer of the series, Erica Messer, explained that Emily will first be hesistant to discuss the matter. As reported by TVLine, she said, "She's sort of delicate about it at first, but then it becomes the 'elephant in the room' that they talk about. According to TV Guide, Moore shared his sentiments about the possibility of returning. He said, "This business is all about politics, so I'm not promising anything. But from a creative place, from a passionate place, if I'm asked intermittently to come back like they did at 'The Young and the Restless,' from my heart, the answer is yes, yes, yes, yes. But I don't know where I'm going to be in my career and my life when that time comes. But is it possible? Yes, it's possible."

"Criminal Minds" Season 11 airs every Wednesday nights on CBS.
