Marg Helgenberger's Last CSI Episode; Open to Return

Marg Helgenberger has retired from the series but will appear on CBS's "CSI" for the last time this month.

After 12 seasons with the show, the actress will leave "CSI" in a two-part episode airing Jan. 18 and Jan. 25.

The last episodes including the "CSI" star airs just ahead of her earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Helgenberger receives the honor on Jan. 23.

The 53-year-old actress said she is looking forward to having the extra free time after retiring to hike with her dog and even look for different work. She noted an interest in Broadway, and added that she is not completely finished with "CSI."

Helgenberger said she would be willing to return to the crime series for a special episode or two.

"Oh, absolutely, in fact that was one of the reasons why it was a little easier for me to leave the show because the producers said to me practically every day the door is wide open," said the actress according to CBS.

"If I'm available and I'm up for it you betcha," Helgenberger added. "You haven't seen the last of me."

Both an Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee for her acting on "CSI," Helgenberger said her role as Catherine Willows was "one of the best roles" she's ever had. She added that the role on the show was "quite a journey."

As the last episode including Helgenberger looms, the actress recounted her past outfits and hairstyles on the show.

"Sometimes I go, 'What was I thinking,'" laughed the "CSI" star.

The final episode featuring Helgenberger will air Wednesday, Jan 18 and Jan. 25 at 10 p.m. EST.
