'Cut the Rope' is Apple's Free App of the Week

Cut the Rope is Apple's free app of the week discounted from its $0.99 price for iPhones and $1.99 for iPads, according to an announcement made by the company.

Apple took to its Twitter account yesterday to encourage customers to take advantage of this offer.

The news that Cut the Rope will be offered for free was first reported by TouchArcade, a sister site to MacRumors.com.

The site also reported that Cut the Rope is Apple's first "free app of the week." Apple could possibly make this into a weekly thing. And by calling it a "free app of the week," it is not clear if Apple will just offer game apps or other kinds if this becomes something company does on a regular basis.

The company has made some other changes to its App store including its new "Editors' Choice" picks section and the removal of "Staff Favorites."

The U.S. version of the "Editors' Choice" section features the Facebook Camera app and Extreme Skater for the iPhone and the Sketchbook Ink app for the iPad.

Facebook made headlines this week by launching the new Facebook Camera app that derived from the company's acquisition of Instagram.

It features similar filters to those that come with Instagram and gives iPhone users the ability to upload more than one photo up at a time.

The regular Facebook app only allows users to upload one photo at once.

The app also allows users to crop and apply filters to give photos a new look, scroll down a single feed of all friends' photos, tag friends, add photo captions and give a location, and see photos from the different apps the user's friends use.
