Dallas Cowboys Roster News 2016: Greg Hardy's Time Is Over
The recruitment of Greg Hardy by the Dallas Cowboys almost a year ago brought promise to a team that has seen little success as of late. However, the relationship isn't going to have a fairy tale ending as several reports claim that the team is no longer planning to renew the talented but troubled defensive end.
Accordingly, the decision to move on reportedly wasn't caused by the lack of production from Hardy, but more on his attitude. The Cowboys hired him to become their most potent weapon against the opposing teams' quarterbacks, but he has not shown he can carry the load.
Letting Hardy go means that Dallas is no longer willing to be part of his attitude issues. He is supposedly a guy who deserves $15 million a year with his talent alone, but in the American football industry, it's not just about talent anymore. He earned $8.8 million off Jerry Jones' pocket last year, in a contract that was filled with incentives if he performed what was expected of him. However, all he did was make six sacks the whole year.
And yet again, it's not about his game.
Getting into shouting matches and arguments with teammates and coaches and the consistent tardiness were the icing on the cake. The cake itself was the domestic violence case he faced, but the Cowboys were willing enough to lease him a new life. He had this argument with Dez Bryant that allegedly stemmed from him publicly expressing his frustrations with the team's special teams' coach Rich Bisaccia. He also once had some choice words for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in one of their games last year.
But in spite all of that, he won't find it difficult to find a new team because he's just too talented for the rest of the NFL to pass. Hardy deserves all the chances in the world and he might turn the corner eventually when he finds himself in another team, but as of this moment, his time with the Cowboys is over.
